Teaching

Personal Statement

Having taught in various environments, I have identified areas important to being an educator: providing a setting where students can question and contemplate while promoting an inclusive learning setting, keeping up to date on teaching strategies to assist students to develop confidence and self-sufficiency, and acting as a role model within the community. I believe every individual learns differently, thus I strive to present information using a variety of teaching approaches. I am sensitive to cultural differences as well as possible learning differences, encouraging one-on-one meetings with my students for assessment, peer assessment, and working with student learning services to meet students’ individualized needs. One of my personal goals in teaching a class is to create an environment where students feel they are supported.
